Husqvarna Sewing Machine

August 25th, 2009

Of course, Husqvarna Lawn Tractor Fan is all about the lawn machines.  Right?  Well, we certainly thought so, until someone pointed out that Husqvarna is the maker of the famous and popular Viking line of sewing machines.  In most of Europe, these are known as Husqvarna sewing machine products while here in the U.S. we often refer to them as Viking machines instead.

For clarity, since we do have an international audience here, we’ll refer to them as Husqvarna products collectively.

The Husqvarna sewing line includes the Designer, Sapphire, Emerald, Platinum, and the straight Viking E20 model ranges.  All have something unique, of course, with focus on various sewing needs.

The Designer series focuses on embroidery and maximum maneuverability of the fabric within the machine’s deck so that designers can get some serious Husqvarna sewing machine work done without restriction.  There is a machine for using computer-aided design, for basic home use, and even for quilting.

The Sapphire series of Husqvarna sewing machine is larger with more robust features for the more serious sewer.

For serious embroidery, though, the Husqvarna products in the Platinum line are hard to beat.  Powerful, maneuverable, and feature-rich, they are the top of the line in serious Husqvarna sewing machine embroidery work.

For more basic home use and portability, however, the Husqvarna sewing line in the Emerald machines are the tops with a good mix of both features and strength.  These machines are built primarily for part-time use and portability.

Finally, the Mega Quilter does just what it says while the Viking E20 is the premier, top-notch Husqvarna sewing machine for even the most serious of professionals.  Meant for beginners, however, the E20 has many built-in features to speed up the learning curve on serious design.

Overall, there are great Husqvarna products for sewing that are worth considering.  After all, they’re Husqvarna!

Husqvarna Mowers

August 24th, 2009

We’ve looked at Husqvarna mowers before and here at Husqvarna Lawn Tractor Fan, we’ve even done a full Husqvarna Lawn Tractor Buyer’s Guide as a two part series.  There is a lot to like about Husqvarna mowers and right now is a good time to find some great Husqvarna deals.

There are a lot of models to choose from, of course, so that buyer’s guide will help.  Husqvarna discounts are all over the place this time of year: at your Husqvarna dealer, big box stores that sell them, and more.  Riding lawn mowers like the Rider 155 and the YTH series of power mowers are a great buy this time of year.

There’s also a special retail financing offer directly from Husqvarna available.  So if you’re looking at some great Husqvarna discounts, but don’t have the cash to pay right now, you can probably get credit and still take advantage of the great Husqvarna deals available.

Summer time accessories for Husqvarna machines, like mulchers, sprayers, bag catchers, etc. are almost all being discounted now.  So finding Husqvarna discounts on those extras is easy this time of year.  Other items, for the coming season, are showing up on shelves and may also have great Husqvarna deals too.  Things like snow blades, blowers, and more for your Husqvarna tractor.

Most riding mowers are also on sale, this being the “off season” for them.  Two great Husqvarna models in the Rider 175 series are available with many dealers offering up to 12% off in Husqvarna discounts this time of year.  More discounts with financing and other terms are also out there.

This is definitely a great time to be shopping for great Husqvarna deals!

Where to Buy a Husqvarna Lawn Tractor

July 19th, 2009

If you’re looking for the best place to buy a Husqvarna, then we here at Husqvarna Lawn Tractor Fan can help.  Not because we sell them (which we don’t), but because we love our Husqvarna lawn tractor and want you to love yours too.  The first step in that new love is buying a lawn tractor.

There are a lot of variables to consider when looking for the best deal before you buy a Husqvarna.  Our last post covered how to buy a Husqvarna lawn tractor, so we’ll go right to finding the best price for what you’re getting out of your Husqvarna lawn tractor.

The first thing is where you live in terms of how far you’d have to go to pick it up yourself to bring it home.  Some people live right where the tractor is being sold, others of us have quite a distance to get to the nearest retailer.  This factors into the total price in terms of gas and expense to get the machine as well as your time to do so.  When buying a lawn tractor, this is something that’s often overlooked by many.

Another factor is the price itself.  Does the price when you buy a Husqvarna include warranties, delivery, assembly (if needed), and so forth?  Make sure you know what’s included first.  I don’t know how many times I’ve had people tell me horror stories about buying a lawn tractor at some big box store for “cheap” only to find out that they would need to be a mechanic to actually use it, since “some assembly required” meant the whole thing arrives in pieces.

Most likely, you’ll do the majority of your shopping online.  Which is great, since the power of the Internet makes it much easier to buy a Husqvarna and either have it shipped right to you or go get it, knowing before you even get to teh store how much and what’s included.

Whatever your choice, make sure you buy it from a trusted retailer and not some fly-by-night outfit.  If you don’t know the name, how long they’ve been in business, or how to contact them if something goes wrong, don’t buy.  If you’re looking at a used Husqvarna lawn tractor, though, this is a little different, obviously.

Above all, know what you want and get it.  Then have fun on your new Husqvarna lawn tractor!

How to Buy a Husqvarna Lawn Tractor

July 18th, 2009

There are a lot of options out there when buying a lawn tractor and when you want to buy a Husqvarna, there are a lot of dealers and big box stores offering them.  Being a Husqvarna Lawn Tractor Fan, we know what you’re going through when you want to get a new one and are wondering where the best place is to get it.

You can get your new Husqvarna lawn tractor online, at several well-known hardware and home centers, and you can buy a Husqvarna at a local dealership.  When you look for yours, before buying a lawn tractor, make sure it’s the one you want and will use.  The best way to do this is by shopping around a little.

Go to the local big box store, whatever it may be.  Don’t worry about price yet, just find a nearby place or two where you can actually fiddle with, sit on, and try out a Husqvarna lawn tractor.  If there’s a dealership near you, it’s recommended that you go there.  Why?

Not because their prices will necessarily be better, but because that dealership will have a knowledgeable salesperson, will probably let you fire up the Husqvarna lawn tractor and drive it for a bit, and will have more information on the process of buying a lawn tractor in general.  Especially if you plan to finance.

Now that you’ve tried out some models and seen how they work, before you actually buy a Husqvarna, do some online research.  Although we all love the various Husqvarna lawn tractor models, some are built better than others–there’s no way around it.  See what others are saying about them around the Internet, check the latest, trusted reviews, and then make your decision.

Once you know what model of Husqvarna lawn tractor your want, you can go about finding the best price so you can be buying a lawn tractor quickly.  Sometimes the best price is online, sometimes it’s not.  Most likely, the best price will be both: you’ll find it online, but go to the store to get it.

Good luck and happy Husqvarna lawn tractor owning!

Husqvarna Chain Saw

April 16th, 2009

Of course, a lawn tractor only gets you so far. Eventually, you’ll need to chop something that isn’t laying on the ground and that’s too big for your tractor to run over. In comes the Husqvarna chain saw! While Husvarna Lawn Tractor Fan is all about lawn tractors, sometimes you’ve got to branch out a little. Besides, I just got this and wanted to talk about it.

On one corner of my property was a dead tree I wanted to get rid of. It wasn’t very big, maybe five inches around, so I figured I could pull it up with a chain and my pickup truck. After replacing the rear window and welding the chain links back together, I figured I’d better go get the right tool for the job. So I bought a Husqvarna chain saw.

As per usual, I did some research first, but I generally knew I was going to get a Husqvarna e-series saw. I found out, though, that they also make an electric one, so I decided to find out more about those. The Husqvarna electric chain saw (316E) is 1600W and weighs just under ten pounds. It’s pretty powerful for a little electric. Since I won’t use it too often and wasn’t interested in doing a lot of maintenance, I decided to go with it.

So I bought the Husqvarna electric chain saw and had that tree down and chopped into firewood in no time. I’m amazed at how powerful such a little thing is. If you use your saw a lot, though, you might want to get something more powerful and portable like one of the Husqvarna e-series saws, which are from 1.8 to 2.4 horsepower. They make even larger ones, of course, but not many really need those.

I think for most regular people, a Husqvarna electric chain saw is what you’ll want to look at.

Husqvarna Lawn Mower Buyer’s Guide II

April 15th, 2009

When you finally decide to buy that new Husqvarna lawn tractor, you’re going to do one of two things: go in and stare at the huge number of options available at the dealership, or find out what you need before you go in so you can point directly at it and commence to haggling prices instead of Husqvarna mowers and options.

Husqvarna lawn tractor types come in two basic series: the LS and the TH/GT series. The LS series are called just Husqvarna tractor models while the TH/GT series are called Husqvarna lawn tractor models. The real difference is horsepower (the TH/GT series tend to be smaller) and branding.

Most of the LS series feature Briggs & Stratton motors on the Husqvarna mower while TH/GT are Kohler or Briggs & Stratton Inteks. The larger your lawn and projects you plan to do, the more powerful you’ll likely need your Husqvarna tractor to be.

Now, let’s have a look at the accessories available for the models you’ve narrowed your choices down to. The Husqvarna lawn tractor line has a lot of great additions you can use for every task imaginable. In my mind, a double or triple bagger is essential, I recently also added the Poly Cart too. It’s ultra-handy, trust me, especially if you garden. I”m also tempted to get the Lawn Sweeper to ad to my Husqvarna tractor because there are a fair number of trees in our neighborhood.

All in all, the choice really comes down to your needs. From the 20hp units (that fit the bill for most of us) or the huge 27hp Husqvarna tractors with lots of power, there’s something to fit!

Husqvarna Lawn Tractor Buyer’s Guide

April 14th, 2009

Most dealerships and even the more informed home improvement or lawn and garden stores will be happy to give you a “buyer’s guide” tour of their wares. Honest ones will find out what you need and work from there, but most often the question they’ll begin with is “how much is your budget?” Then they’ll take you to the top-end of that dollar figure and start there. So I decided to write this Husqvarna lawn tractor buyers guide as a sort of independent source.

First and foremost, know exactly what you need in a Husqvarna lawn mower. If your yard is fairly small (say 1/ 4 acre or less), then consider just getting a regular Husqvarna mower instead of a Husqvarna tractor. I mean, unless you have some major landscaping to do, you’re just enhancing your ego by getting a riding tractor.

Now consider your yard. How large is it? The larger your yard, the larger the Husqvarna mower you’ll like want to get (in terms of cutting area, not actual size). This is negated, though, if your yard has a lot of obstructions to work around, in which case your Husqvarna tractor will need to have a smaller cutting area for more maneuverability.

Now for the grass itself. If your grass is thick (or mostly weeds) or you plan to use the mower on more than just regular lawn grass, then you’ll want a much more powerful and probably side-ejecting Husqvarna lawn tractor. These will clog less often and have the power to cut, eject, and even mulch (Husqvarna tractor calls this “BioClip”) those greens (or browns in my case, but we won’t go there).

In the next part, we’ll look at accessories and some options for the mowers themselves. See you then!

Welcome to Husqvarna Lawn Tractor Fan

April 13th, 2009

I decided to start this site after I’d gone through the process of researching, testing, and ultimately buying my new lawn mower. So welcome to my new Husqvarna Lawn Tractor Fan site. Obviously, I bought a Husqvarna lawn tractor.

When I was growing up, the riding mower of choice was a John Deere. Remember those older models that looked like a mashup of a farm tractor and a Zamboni? We had one of those. What I remember most about that mower was how hard it was to get it started and how loud it was once it was going.

Things have changed a lot since then and those old Deeres have some competition now. Really, really good competition, I found out. There are dozens of brands of riding mower types to choose from and finding good information on them is not always easy. That’s part of the reason I started this Husqvarna Lawn Tractor Fan site.

After several visits to the hardware stores, home and garden outlets, and after hours of researching online, I had narrowed the field. What finally decided the issue, though, and made my new riding mower a Husqvarna was when I’d stopped randomly, whenever I saw someone on a lawn mower, and asked what they thought of it.

Almost always, the Husqvarna lawn tractor owners were the ones who had the most good to say about their choice. So I got one. I tell you, once you’ve got your Husqvarna mower, there’s no turning back! Oh, and here’s another secret: I got mine on eBay. Yep! Amazingly, I got a brand new one from a local dealer who lists his stuff on eBay. Don’t you love the Internet?
